While the national Press regularly reports on the decreasing trend in Covid-19 deaths in the third wave of the pandemic, an analysis of deaths reported from the Worli Prayer Hall shows a disturbing trend. Of the 29 corpses that were cremated there in January 2022, the cause of death in 19 (66%) was reported as Covid.
In an interview with the Parsi Times weekly, Prayer Hall Services and Maintenance Trust chairman Dinshaw Tamboly stated that of the 116 bodies cremated at Worli in 2020, 45 (39%) had contracted the coronavirus. A year later, in 2021, the percentage was 48% (73 out of 153). F. J.
