“Value of a mobed”

"If Parsis do not take care of their mobeds for three generations, there will be danger to the survival” of the community "as an ethnic group,” stated Hyderabad resident Farida Antia in a talk on "Value of a mobed.” She was speaking at a function on January 15, 2018 to felicitate Ervad Kavas Umrigar, priest at The Bai Maneckbai Nusserwanji Chenoy Fire Temple in the city who retired after 30 years of service, notes a communication from the Fire Temple Endowment Trust Fund’s secretary Russi Doctor. A humbandagi and a Tandarosti prayer for Umrigar and his wife Tehmi led by head priest Ervad Mehernosh Bharucha began the function. In a brief talk, Bharucha appreciated the mobed’s services. Ervad Kerfegar Antia read out a citation to the retiring mobed which was presented to him along with a purse by Trust president Mehernosh Chenoy.
