Jamshed Dotivala was unanimously elected president of the Surat Parsi Panchayat (SPP) by its board of trustees on December 23, 2014. He took over the reins from Darayas Master, SPP secretary Soli Wadia informed Parsiana when asked over the telephone. Dotivala is also a trustee in several other trusts, mentions a write-up sent by Wadia.

Dotivala, a life member of the Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce, is the fifth generation of his family to run the well known Dotivala Bakers and Confectioners in Surat. A long time member of the Lions Club International, he has held important posts including that of district governor of Lions District 323F (ranging from Umbergaon to Dahod) in 2003-2004. As chairman of the Lions Cancer Detection Center for three years, Dotivala helped the Center obtain the latest medical equipment for treating the dread disease, the write-up notes.
