The assertion by Viraf Doctor that Universal Adult Franchise (UAF) is impossible to implement just because the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) manages and controls properties outside Bombay ("Ethnicity: an electoral issue?” Parsiana, October 2003) is downright ridiculous.
The election of BPP trustees is basically restricted to the residents of Greater Bombay. Even if it is assumed that the residents of outlying areas managed by the BPP are allowed to participate in BPP elections, such residents can come down to Bombay for voting or even as a special case be permitted to vote by postal ballot.
