Expanding Bhabha

A new 11-storey building will be constructed besides the 436-bedded Khan Bahadur Hormasji Kharshedji Bhabha Hospital in Bandra run by the Bombay Municipal Corporation (BMC). The Hospital sees an annual outpatient case load of 5,00,000 and admits 40,000 patients. The new wing will comprise super-specialty departments like nephrology and cardiac thoracic surgery and will be connected to the existing 10-storey building via a bridge, reported the MumbaiMirror of July 19, 2018. Plans are afoot for addition of 200 beds and an intensive care unit for trauma victims. The number of X-ray machines will be increased to four from the current two, sonography equipment from one to three. The operation theater, which currently has two tables, will get three more. Hospital medical superintendent Dr Pradeep Jadhav told the newspaper that the management has received a nod from the BMC recently and that "a bunch of approvals” have to be obtained. Tenders for purchase are yet to be processed, but the location for construction has been identified and "is likely to start this year itself.”  ...
