The new National Sports Club of India (NSCI) stadium near Haji Ali in Worli will be the venue for the 10th World Zoroastrian Congress (WZC) to be held in Bombay from December 27 to 30, 2013. The decision to move from the National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) was taken by the WZC Organising Committee (OC) for logistical reasons, mentions a press release sent by email dated September 7, 2013 to Parsiana.
Indoor stadium of the National Sports Club of India at Worli
With the number of registered delegates having "exceeded our initial expectations,” it became necessary to hire the massive centrally air-conditioned indoor stadium of the NSCI which has a seating capacity of up to 5,000. Around 1,000 delegates have registered till early September.
At the NCPA 900 delegates would have been accommodated in the Jamshed Bhabha Theatre "on a first come first served basis,” while the rest would be seated at the Tata Theatre from where they could view the proceedings and entertainment programs via video conferencing. Unhappy that the delegates would need to be divided into two groups due to space constraints, the OC opted for the NSCI which is located on the seafront and has sprawling lawns with plenty of parking space, states the Press handout.
Also, the early bird offer has been extended to encourage greater participation.
