Subscribers’ comments

Subscribers offer their views on Parsiana’s strengths and weaknesses on the subscription renewal form returned to us. With their consent we publish their comments so that their thoughts may be known to a wider readership. Unless another name is affixed to the remarks, Parsiana assumes they are written by the subscriber whose name appears on the form.

Parsiana provides interesting international and national reporting. Arnavaz Mama will be deeply missed. Shortcomings: Let’s have some interesting Parsi photography. The same photographs are repeated in every issue.

MEHER BANAJI

Parsiana’s strengths: Candid, fearless, bold. Shortcomings: Do not give publicity to old fogeys who are not willing to change with the times. Stress more on young blood having modern views which are progressive.

Strengths: Parsiana is a vibrant informative magazine presenting our community with a modern twist in these times and yet retaining all the nuances of our personality! Shortcomings: None at all!

FEROZA C. JASSAWALA

Faridabad

Parsiana’s strengths: Great in information about Parsis outside Bombay and abroad. Carry on the good work. Very happy with your coverage. Shortcomings: Avoid taking a strong stand for liberals or traditionalists. Merely make it your task to inform and provide coverage of both sides to avoid loss of advertisements. Please provide in future coverage of Parsi colonies in Karachi, Pakistan with photographs of our fellow community members inside their residences and what they do to celebrate our auspicious days, along with their regular activities. The same could be done for Parsi colonies in Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Navsari, Surat and Ahmedabad in India and the Parsis of New Zealand and Canada as well.

DARAYUS P. KAVARANA

Your strength: Parsipanu. Shortcomings: The annual calendar requires more religious events to be indicated.

DINSHAW DARA KELAWALA

The editors reply:

Perhaps next year we may carry the anniversaries of the various fire temples. This has been published before in Parsiana.

Strengths: Good information. Shortcomings: Needs to be more forceful in convincing readers to oust the bigoted trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet.

ZARIR MASTER

Parsiana gives comprehensive coverage of Parsi matters. Shortcomings: Please give greater coverage to Parsi achievers. Avoid controversies. We get enough of that from other publications.

MEHERWAN D. MEHTA

Parsiana’s strengths: Very visually stimulating, entertaining and informative. Shortcomings: At times biased and prejudiced reporting, tilting the scales in favour of liberals.
