Magnanimous minority

I wish we had more Parsis who could teach other minorities as to what a minority really means. It means not to be a parasite or a leech on the host country. It means to give, and not to demand. All those who have been asking for minority status, then and today, ought to be ashamed of themselves. They owe a lot to this nation.
Parsis are a microscopic minority yet they never asked for minority status; they never fought with the Indian government; they never felt threatened by Hindus; they never threw bombs or stones or damaged public property; they never indulged in crimes or ran the underworld. All they do is to contribute mightily to the progress of India...
They gave us the best in politics — Dadabhai Naoroji, Bhikaiji Cama, Pherozeshah Mehta; in industry — Sir Dinshaw Petit, Ratan Tata,  Russi Mody, Adi Godrej, Shapoorji Pallonji, Cyrus Mistry; in science —  Dr Homi Bhabha; in medicine — Dr Cyrus Poonawala; in music —  Zubin Mehta; in sports — Nari Contractor and Farokh Engineer; in law — Soli Sorabjee; in defence — Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw; in Bollywood — Daisy Irani, Homi Wadia, Boman Irani, Perizaad Zorabian; in media —  Russi Karanjia, Bachi Karkaria, Behram Contractor; in dance — Shiamak Davar...the list is endless.
All Indians love and respect Parsis who are a beautiful and dignified race. They are the best gift by the Almighty to India.                            K. D. SKANDAN
