It was wonderful reading Berjis Desai’s article "The magician" (Parsiana, September 7, 2018). Having worked in the same Parsi industrial group, I would like to provide two more anecdotes about the magician who was nicknamed "Papeta Ghost."
So great was his enchantment of his boss that one day he talked to some colleagues about changing his surname to that of his boss. When the latter came to know of this, he chided him for this gelapanu (madness) and asked him to desist from going ahead with the chaavat-chaap (mischievous) idea.
Once while driving his car out of the factory premises he banged it against another coming down the road. The other driver got out and asked, "What are you doing, man?" and the magician replied, "I am the labor officer with this company!"
