A walk with Gandhi

"It’s good to see you here. India needs youngsters in politics. They come with great zeal and bring in fresh ideas,” Congressman Rahul Gandhi told 29-year-old Hyderabad self-employed professional Arnaz Bisney who joined the politician on his Bharat Jodo Yatra (Unite India March) when it passed through the Deccan city. The aim of the march is to "unite India; to come together and strengthen our nation,” notes their website bharatjodoyatra.in. The Yatra, which began on September 7, 2022, will pass through 12 states, culminating in Jammu and Kashmir, covering a distance of about 3,500 km over about 150 days. Bisney, who joined the march on November 2, told Parsiana on November 9 that Gandhi’s "warm and welcoming personality is what makes people who’ve met him admire him.”

She believes that "a vibrant opposition in an undeclared authoritarian regime in India is the need of the hour… This is not a political gimmick, but a movement to raise a voice against the issues like unemployment, inflation, hate, communalism, that are dividing our nation today.”
Calling the march a celebration of India’s unity and cultural diversity, Bisney told Parsiana that "she felt honored to have been a part of it.”
