Cooper’s contributions

"It is because of the altruistic nature of people such as industrialist Farrokh Cooper that we can proudly say that gratitude has built Ruby Hall Clinic (RHC),” said Dr Purvez Grant, senior cardiologist and managing trustee of Grant Medical Foundation’s Ruby Hall Clinic (RHC), Poona. "Today, many of our Hospital’s programs and facilities would not exist without his continued philanthropic support. As a hospital, we recognize the transformative power his gifts hold,” notes a write-up from RHC received by Parsiana on December 23, 2021.
The Clinic’s chief executive officer Bomi Bhote stated: "As we rapidly expand to move further along the spectrum to prevent and cure complex medical conditions, it is generous benefactors such as Cooper who have the power to help us deliver the promise of a healthier tomorrow.”
Cooper responded, "RHC has been undertaking some outstanding work over the years and I support their noble cause wholeheartedly. These donations are just a small way for me to do what I can for society at large.” Cooper is chairman and managing director of Cooper Corporation Private Limited in Satara (see "The power of platinum,” Parsiana, February 7-20, 2020). The company manufactures and sells engines, engine components and gensets.
Cooper started his gifting program in 2016 with a cardiac ambulance. "This had a far-reaching impact in developing Poona’s emergency care system and strengthening its infrastructure,” stated the write-up. In 2019, "Cooper’s generosity resulted in the launch and expansion of the Clinic’s neo trauma and cardiac care units…Today, both these units are amongst the most formidable centers providing the highest level of care.” The RHC estimates that "Cooper has gifted more than 100 underserved children a new lease of life… Surgeries are performed either free of cost or for a negligible fee.”

The Grant Medical Foundation’s facilities include the flagship 600-bedded multispecialty center Ruby Hall founded by Dr Keki B. Grant, a 130-bedded unit at Wanowrie and 70-bedded center at Hinjawadi. "All of these are manned by a team of 300 consultants, over 650 panel doctors and 1,500 paramedical staff,” states their website. This is in addition to the 24 peripheral centers across the state of Maharashtra.
