Three Surat residents received doctoral degrees in the last year. Assistant professor at Surat’s S. R. Luthra Institute of Management Parinaz Bharucha (née Todiwala) has been awarded a PhD degree from Veer Narmad South Gujarat University (VNSGU) in January 2019. Her thesis in the field of human relations was titled "Perception of work life balance: A study of perceived impact of work and life on selected private sector banks of Surat city.” Bharucha’s work was supervised by Prof D. G. Thakore of the University’s Human Resource Development Department.

Arnaz Wadia: recently earned PhDs in Gujarat
Pearl Kharas’ doctoral thesis was on "A study of attitude of consumers towards online shopping.” The head of the department for business administration and banking in Udhna Citizens Commerce College worked under the guidance of associate professor of S. P. B. English Medium College of Commerce Dr Aaishwarya Kulkarni. Kharas has presented and published four research papers in refereed journals on the topic of her research. She has also designed the syllabus for strategic management for postgraduate commerce subjects.
Arnaz Wadia (née Bhatporia) has been awarded a PhD degree by the Kadi Sarva Vishwavidyalaya of Gandhinagar for her thesis on "Emerging potential of selected FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) private labels with change in consumer buying behavior for organized retailers in Gujarat” in October 2018. Wadia is an assistant professor in the city’s Vanita Vishram Women’s College of Commerce. Her guide was Dr Ram Balyan of the Vishwavidyalaya.
