They captioned the photo: "The Vulture and the little girl.” The (pictured) image of a vulture waiting for a starving Sudanese girl to die was taken by Kevin Carter who subsequently won the Pulitzer for this picture. He was initially savoring his feat and being celebrated on major news channels and networks worldwide. But he lived just a few months to enjoy his supposed achievement. He began to become depressed when during an interview someone phoned and asked him what happened to the child. He replied, "I didn’t wait to find out after this shot as I had a plane to catch.” And the person replied, "I put it to you that there were two vultures on that day. One had a camera.” This statement never left him and led to his ultimate suicide.
In whatever we do, we think of making a gain from the situation. Let humanity come first. Carter could have been alive today had he just picked up that little girl and taken her to the United Nations feeding center which she was attempting to reach.
