Capt Percy Master emphasized that the need for education, especially of the girl child and in rural areas was imperative if India wants to be a superpower. During the past 100 years Lionism has worked to eradicate polio, assist the visually impaired and is now tackling diabetes, one of the largest killer diseases in the world. The achievements of Lions Clubs in India since the advent of the Club in India and what needs to be done beyond the centennial year of the international Lions movement, 2017, was discussed by Master at the Region Conference – Region I (District 323A1) of Lions Club International hosted by him at Sunville Banquets, Worli on January 14, 2017, notes and email received from the Club.

Over 20 delegates and guests from the 13 clubs of Region I, Zones I and II, along with dignitaries from 323 A1 were in attendance. District governor Armaity Cooper was the chief guest. Executive administrator Dr Neville Mehta was also present along with keynote speaker Cmde Aspi Marker (retd). A Power Point presentation was made of projects carried out by the clubs and zonal managers Katy Patel and Cyrus Surti read out their reports, mentions the email. Marker illustrated his talk on leadership and decision making with visuals and cited instances from real life. Cooper presented certificates of appreciation and pins to members for their achievements. Mehta presented Master with a certificate of appreciation from International president Robert Curlew.
