I write from the USA in the hope that some of your readers may be able to help identify the elegant lady (pictured) in the attached cabinet card portrait. The photo was taken probably in the 1890s by Shapoorji Hormusji at his studio in the Elephant Building on Kalbadevi Road.
On the reverse is a name which may be "Dr E. S. Bharucha.” Also on the back is a stamp which appears to be from "J.J. Shah & Sons, Kanji Bhuvan, Sandhurst Road, Bombay.” I wonder if the sitter might have been related to Khan Bahadur Erachji Sheriarji Bharucha, assistant surgeon? However, I haven’t found any information about his family online. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I may be contacted via my blog: tokensofcompanionship.blog
