Bawa’s Day Out, a picnic to Meher Farms on August 4, 2024 organized by Poona’s Zoroastrian Youth Association (ZYA) and attended by 50 young adults aged 16-35 was described by ZYA secretary Zoish Motiwalla as "unforgettable” and "filled with adventure and excitement” for the attendees. In order to reach the venue, participants had two choices: a 600 m trek to a stunning viewpoint overlooking Pawna Lake, or a more relaxed "rather fun ride” to the resort by "apri junni gypsies [our old Gypsies (vehicles)]. "The ride to Pawna was filled with laughter and anticipation, highlighted by a breakfast of poro pav catered by The Food Gallery.”
Poona’s "unforgettable” picnic
Icebreakers and games organized by vice president Behnaz Nanavatti "kept boredom at bay… and provided a great opportunity for everyone to get to know each other better…Soon after, everyone headed to the pool, shivering in the cold but enthusiastically playing pool volleyball.” The Association had booked rooms at Meher Farms where participants could freshen up and relax, after which they enjoyed a sumptuous subsidized lunch. A photo session followed. Games "to keep the fun alive and the laughter echoing” continued. A pit stop was made for vada pau and biscuits on the picturesque drive back.
This picnic was conceptualized by community member Mabrin Nanavatti and ZYA president Farah Khambatta. The Association is a non-profit charitable trust and its committee members include Shaun Postwalla, Nausheen Hormazdi, Senaea Ukaji, Mediomah Engineer, Kaizeen Kamdin and Viraf Irani.
