"From Goddess Saraswati to Florence Nightingale, we had a wonderful array of innovative ideas,” wrote Calcutta Parsee Club president Prochy Mehta about their annual children’s party and fancy dress competition held on January 19, 2020. "The parents’ imagination and execution of ideas was really remarkable,” she added. A court jester vied with Little Red Riding Hood for attention, while a Japanese warrior princess was present too, as was Indiana Jones. About 20 children took part. A canteen with mostly home-made snacks and two trampolines for the kids to jump on made the evening’s enjoyment complete, noted the president.
The annual event was started in the 1930s by Sarah Oonwala, the first woman member of the Club, with the tradition continuing ever since, noted Mehta.
