Since each Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) election costs the trust about Rs 40 lakhs and a fairly large amount is spent by the candidates as well, it would be better to avoid interim elections and let the candidates be elected uncontested. There are two vacancies, one of former BPP chairman Yazdi Desai in whose place his wife Anahita is contesting. She has a track record of excellent social service for the community. The only reason she could not win over her adversaries in earlier elections is because the community was opposed to conferring power on a husband and wife duo.......
