One of the gardens near the Rustom Framna Agiary in Dadar has been named the Rustom Tirandaz Park in memory of the late corporator and Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trustee. Earlier, an adjoining road was named after the dynamic resident of Dadar Parsi Colony. Both these initiatives were jointly taken up by the Mancherji Edalji Joshi Memorial Trust (MEJMT) and the Municipal Corporation of Greater Bombay, notes an e-mail received from MEJMT trustee Mahiyar Dastoor who conducted the function on March 24, 2012.

Member of Parliament Eknath Gaikwad was chief guest, while newly elected corporator Nayna Sheth and former corporator Raghunath Thawai (the latter being instrumental in moving the proposal in the Corporation) presided over the function. Thawai paid glowing tributes to Tirandaz and the Parsi community. Members of the Tirandaz family, wife Armaity, a BPP trustee, brother Dinyar, son Darius and MEJMT honorary secretary Mithoo Jesia reminisced about Rustom and his contribution. The efforts of MEJMT trustees Zareen Engineer and Aspi Vasania, who had liaised with the Corporation, were appreciated while Kaizad Elavia and Rustom’s son Faredoon were honored for their role in creating the gate for the garden, the e-mail mentions. Also present at the inauguration were BPP trustees Jimmy Mistry with wife Delna, Yazdi Desai with spouse Anahita, Khojeste Mistree and BPP chairman Dinshaw Mehta’s wife Pansy.
