The success of the three-member finance committee appointed since last year was highly commended at the annual general meeting of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman (DPA) held on September 11, 2016, notes a report. Comprising honorary treasurer Aspy Mehta and trustees Cyrus Malia and Yezdi Pithavala, the committee reduced the losses of the DPA through a process of improving revenue and cutting costs. Honorary secretary Adil Nargolwala was hopeful that the DPA’s losses would be wiped out within two years, states the report.
Ashdeen Lilaowala was inducted as the new youth trustee. He also heads the newly appointed social center committee comprising Ava Khullar, Veera Mavalwala, Feroza Jassawala, Kaenaz Engineer and Binaifer Bagli. The DPA appreciated Jassawala’s efforts to raise funds for the Anjuman’s corpus last year by hosting the successful play, Run for your Wife. The aramgah committee proposed to raise a separate corpus of Rs 70 lakhs to be used for its maintenance.
The trustees are hopeful of increasing utilization of the DPA auditorium on a regular basis and increasing the occupancy of the Dharamshala. With the commissioning of the new metro station adjoining the premises, connectivity will be enhanced. Proposals to renovate the Dharamshala’s rooms are also being discussed, added DPA president, Yazad Kapadia, according to the write-up.
A heated discussion took place on the functioning of the Delhi Dharamshala with Dhun Bagli who manages the institution and her sister Nergish Mistry on one side and some irate members on the other.
