XVII NAZC registration
"Anyone with an interest in Zoroastrianism, including non-Zoroastrian spouses, significant others and their families, are welcome to register for the Congress,” notes the website of The XVII North American Zoroastrian Congress,
www.nazc2014.org Online registration for the Congress to be held at The Hilton Los Angeles (LA) from December 29-31, 2014 commenced on June 3. Under the early bird offer (applicable until August 31) adult (aged 22 and above) can register for $ 325 (Rs 19,500), youth (aged 13-22) for $ 250 (Rs 15,000) and child (aged 0-12) for $ 150 (Rs 9,000). This charge covers all sessions of the Congress, lunch on three days and dinner on the first two days of the Congress. Those registering from September 1 to November 15, will have to pay an additional $ 50 (Rs 3,000) for all three categories under the regular rates. Late registrants from November 16 to December 28 would be required to pay $ 125 (Rs 7,500) more than the early bird rates.

To avail of the New Year’s Eve gala on the third night, December 31, registrants need to pay $ 125 (Rs 7,500) until November 15, and $ 150 (Rs 9,000) after November 16. Hotel bookings have to be made directly with The Hilton which is offering a special room rate of $ 107 (Rs 6,420) plus tax per night for Congress registrants from December 26 to January 3. That is because those registering for the Congress may also choose to register for several pre and post Congress social events including sightseeing tours of LA, wine country expeditions, WZCC (World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce) Day, pre-Congress weekend for young adults (aged 18-40).
As reminds the Congress website, "LA is home to three FEZANA (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America) associations: Zoroastrian Association of California (ZAC), California Zoroastrian Center (CZC), and Traditional Mazdayasni Zarathushti Anjuman. And nearby is the very active San Diego Zoroastrian Community, a FEZANAcorresponding member. While the Congress is hosted by ZAC, in coordination with CZC, volunteers from all four FEZANA members have played an active role in organizing this Congress. In addition, FEZANA associations across North America have stepped up to support the Congress. The result is a very well-balanced, engaging program born out of a united commitment to our community and our Congress. Join us in December to see the power of ‘Faith and Unity’ (the theme of the Congress) first hand!”
World Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra invites young and old artistes
"International speakers with a panoply of perspectives” will cover topics such as inter-generational dialog, navigating Zoroastrian parenthood, venture philanthropy, Zoroastrian history, religion, culture and more, state the organizers. In addition to workshops on health, finance, social media, entrepreneurship and other subjects, there will be special tracks for young adults, teens and children, notes an email from Congress secretary Shazneen Gandhi (
secretary@nazc2014.org).
Since the World Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra will also be performing at the Congress under the baton of music director Farobag Cooper of Chicago, an appeal has been issued to play in the Orchestra or make a donation to support the Orchestra and become a member of the "Conductor’s Circle” or make the largest donation and become the "Patron Conductor.” For more details contact Vira Santoke (
