Zoroaster, a fast patrol vehicle (FPV) will be delivered by Calcutta based Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited (GRSE) to the Seychelles Coast Guard, noted online news magazine outlookindia.com, quoting an unnamed GRSE official. The snippet noted that the vessel "will be a powerful, fuel-efficient platform designed to perform multipurpose operations, such as patrolling, anti-smuggling, anti-poaching and search and rescue.” With a "maximum speed of 34 knots and an endurance of more than 1,500 nautical miles,” Zoroaster will undertake maritime missions including timely interceptions and can accommodate 35 personnel, the official was quoted.        Representational image of a fast patrol vehicle Photo: navyrecognition.com       The Seychelles Coast Guard is a branch of the Seychelles People’s Defence Force created in 1993. They recently acquired responsibility for search and rescue for vessel incidents as well as environmental protection from the Port and Marine Services Division, notes Wikipedia.
