Brown paper covers

I love the new strengthened brown paper packaging that my postal copy of the Parsiana arrives in. It helps me feel virtuous as I can recycle it while at the same time it allows the magazine to remain perfectly intact. I remember the old days of the flimsy brown paper covering where both the cover and magazine would arrive mangled thanks to the depredations of the Indian and Australian postal systems. My mother Silloo Surti (pictured) was a great fan of the plastic covers (I less so) as she religiously re-purposed them as dust catchers which allowed her to see the contents they were protecting! I also love my little pocket diary and the big calendar — both of which take pride of place in my study and our kitchen and help me feel connected daily to my Parsi identity in distant Australia.  Dr PHEROZA DARUWALLA Sydney, Australia P.Daruwalla@westernsydney.edu.au ...
