Celebrating the founder

"His influence can be felt across many enterprises and sectors. Some of these are well-known, carrying the Tata name with pride. Others lie outside the company, like gems scattered across the country he loved… Perhaps Jamsetji’s biggest contribution to his country, aside from the bustling modern industry, would be his humanitarian efforts,” noted the tata.com website.
Former and current employees of the Tata Group based in Navsari met on March 3, 2024 at Shirvai Party Plot to celebrate the 185th birth anniversary of Jamsetji Tata, founder of the Group. It was an initiative of the Parsi Cultural Division of the S. B. Garda College Trust and the Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage’s (INTACH) city chapter.

The screening of an animated film produced by Tata Steel’s corporate communications team on the visionary’s life was followed by a presentation on the Tata Trusts’ skill development program, STRIVE, which has a base in Navsari, among other multiple locations. A note on the event was sent to Parsiana by Ruzbeh Umrigar, co-convenor of the Navsari chapter of INTACH.
Tata STRIVE is housed under the overall governance of Tata Community Initiatives Trust, established in October 2014 as a public charitable trust by Tata Sons. Today Tata STRIVE functions under the aegis of the Tata Trusts.
As per their website, the trustees are Suprakash Mukhopadhyay, global treasury head and company secretary and Roopa Purshothaman, chief economist at Tata Sons. The Trust has a presence in 22 states and offers courses in technical and service oriented areas and digital offerings.
Garda College’s Cultural Division "has been a collaborative support to Parzor and INTACH in conducting heritage walks and seminars,” stated Dara Deboo, trustee of the College.
