"The Shroffs are synonymous with eye care in Delhi, with an enviable legacy of over 100 years and four generations in the field,” stated Ashdeen Lilaowala, fashion designer and head of the newly appointed Social Centre Committee of the Delhi Parsi Anjuman (DPA), at the 55th salgirah celebrations of the Kaikhushru Pallonji Katrak Dar-e-Meher on December 19, 2016. Drs Noshir, Cyrus and Daraius Shroff, who were honored by DPA president Yezad Kapadia and vice president Ava Khullar for their achievements in the field of ophthalmology, have five specialty centers at which 40 doctors and 95 staff work. The Shroff Eye Centre has been ranked No. 1 in ophthalmology in North India (see "Hat trick by the Shroffs,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, November 7, 2016). They are also known for their service to the less privileged through the Multi Specialty Charity Eye Hospital and the Dr Minoo Shroff Memorial Trust, Lilaowala noted. A maachi was offered at the fire temple that evening. Children of the Farohar group sang Christmas carols; a dance performance by Jehan Madan, songs by sisters Nikita and Nadia Behramfram followed. Lilaowala choreographed the grand finale, a fashion show in which ladies from the DPA sashayed on stage showcasing the designer’s embroidered contemporary gara saris and dresses. The evening ended with a contributory dinner catered by Dhun Bagli, Jassawala writes.
The DPA Social Centre Committee, comprising Khullar, Veera Mavalwala, Jassawala, Kaenaz Engineer, Binaifer Bagli and led by Lilaowala, organizes cultural and entertainment programs for the 750-member Parsi community in Delhi, the write-up concludes.
