These excerpts from Gift of Love by Roshan Lalkaka are reprinted with permission from her family. After her demise her husband Rear Adm Sarosh Lalkaka (retd) chanced upon two handwritten books, one on her life as the wife of a naval officer and the other of vignettes from her childhood (circa the 1920s) dedicated to her family, which he decided to publish.
