Fifteen photographers share memorable visuals of the community

Capture a child and interest in the image is assured. Shoot a senior and the appeal of the photograph is enhanced. Bring in some glow, whether from the sunlight or firelight, and the tone of the picture brightens. To offer a visual treat in this special 60th anniversary issue, Parsiana requested well-known shutterbugs to share one or two of their most prized photographs of the community shot in the last 60 years with an explanation on their selection. The vista, as seen through the eyes of nine lens men and six women, is a captivating representation of the community’s privileged lifestyle and legacy, faith and fervor.
We had sought images that reflect the ethos, mood, nuances, expressions, verve, preferences and passions of the community. Most acceded to our request, with a few obliging with more than what we had sought as they found it difficult to narrow down their choice to just one or two. The selections, made by the photographers and us, would indicate that religiosity continues to define the community.
Our pantheon of versatile photographers ranged in age from 70 plus to the younger lot in their 30s, both Parsis and non-Parsis. Listed here alphabetically are the 15 cameramen and women who contributed to this eye-catching exercise: Kainaz Amaria, Navroz Behramfram, Zal Cassinath, Hemant Chaturvedi, Behram Colah, Divya Cowasji, Rehan Daruwalla, Navroze Dhondy, Farah Gherda, Jamshed Havewala, Gustasp Irani, Homyar Mistry, Bindi Sheth, Ayesha Taleyarkhan and Sooni Taraporevala. To help our readers identify them, we requested for photos of themselves too.
An insightful and well composed photograph enhances the narrative. The select images covering 15 pages of this issue are bound to make the magazine memorable. We have carried the  visuals with the insights penned by the photographers to generate maximum interest.
