Within the 428 pages is a veritable roadmap to help women navigate the disruptive symptoms that mark the winding up of the reproductive years. Providing insights and understanding, the duo guides women on how to holistically handle perimenopause, usher in a new phase of life and transcend midlife barriers. Clinical situations and solutions are used to illustrate their narrative. This forms the first part of the book. The second part pertains to analyzing treatment options for the numerous changes the body goes through such as hot flushes, heart and cardiovascular conditions, mental and emotional fluctuations, bone health, possible cancers, ovarian insufficiency and the need or otherwise of hormonal replacement therapy for menopause.
In part three there are diet suggestions to help address the problems of hormonal changes as well as some useful recipes. An exercise plan is also included. Guidance from experts on how to care for the skin and learn to preserve sexuality is contained in the fourth and last part. In addition to the detailed bibliography at the end, the book also lists useful online resources for reference and an index of the abbreviations used.
