Trust and the Tatas

These days newspaper and television advertisements use the word "trust” in the same manner they would claim a product or service is "at a special low price” or "free home delivery.” At this rate the word will be reduced to meaningless garbage. This prompts me to write a small paean to an organization I regard with affection and pride. People must trust; you earn trust, you don’t need to claim trust. Today, when most of us are home-locked, all of us are inundated with forwarded emails and messages via social media and this over-abundance has sharpened my skill with the delete button on the keyboard. However, I read with care anything to do with Tatas. The messages come with qualifiers like "this is from Tatas, so do read” or "it must be true.” It’s amazing and deeply satisfying how people trust anything to do with the House of Tatas. And this applies to any and every community that I receive messages from. A perennial national tribute to that wonderful organization.           FARROKH K. R. MEHTA fm32fm@gmail.com ...
