Thanks to Noshir Lam’s letter "The dedicated doctor” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, October 2003) I was able to get in touch with Dr Farokh Dhondy again. On our return to Bombay I was told that he was no more. You can imagine my joy to learn that he is alive and well.
He is such a good, kind man, and a dedicated doctor, who became our family friend as well as physician. He looked after four generations of my family — grandparents, parents, me and my children. The children adored him, even though he sometimes had to give them injections; and they called him "My dear doctor.”
Family doctors, such as he, seem to be a vanishing species, but I hope they will always be there in our hour of need.
May God bless Dhondy and all who follow in his footsteps.
