Secunderabad’s Zoroastrian Club celebrated its annual day with a thanksgiving jashan performed by four priests representing all three agiaries in the twin cities of Hyderabad-Secunderabad, notes a write-up sent to Parsiana by Rohinton J. Noria, president of the Club. After partaking of the chasni (consecrated fruits) the congregation reassembled on the spacious lawns for the evening’s program on June 11, 2011, Dae mah, Asman roz. Ervad Mehernosh Bharucha: sound principles In his inaugural address Noria spoke of the Club’s activities, the changes it has introduced and the progress it has made in various spheres. Ervad Mehernosh H. Bharucha, honorary secretary, who is panthaky of the Bai Maneckbai Nusserwani Chenoy Agiary in Hyderabad, enlightened those present with an interesting talk on Zoroastrianism and modern science. He urged coreligionists to be proud of their 8,000-year-old faith, the foundation of which was laid on sound principles and theories which modern science has begun to rediscover in the past 300 to 400 years. To back his scientific explanations he quoted extensively from the works of the late scientist and religious scholar Ervad (Dr) Mino­cher D. Kar­kha­nawalla.
