“Remembering a true…”

On reading "Remembering a true Zarathushti” (Parsiana, February 7, 2018) on Dr Minocher Kaikushro Contractor, I was very happy to learn that he took up the case of Madam Bhikaiji Cama who was among the first lady freedom fighters on foreign soil. Contractor’s greatest goal was achieved when Cama’s portrait was hung in Parliament after he reportedly convinced the late Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to do so. Our five-year-old granddaughter Rokzan Astad Khadiwalla (pictured) who is a student of The J. B. Vachha High School dressed as Madam Cama, for a class competition requiring them to portray freedom fighters. Carring a flag similar to the one unfurled by Cama, she ended her brief introduction stating, "I am the first lady to hoist an Indian flag in a foreign country. I request you all to stand up and salute the Indian flag and say Vande Mataram, Vande Mataram, Vande Mataram.” I would like to see Rokzan grow up and join either the Indian Police Service, Indian Administrative Service or Indian Foreign Service but never ever become a politician.                             SAM PATEL Former Assistant Commissioner of Police ...
