A dispute over a parked car has led to a brutal assault and alleged death of 39-year-old Poona based software engineer Neville Battiwala (pictured) on January 20, 2018 reported The Times of India (TOI) the next day. Battiwala was purportedly assaulted by 
tour and travel operator Shriganesh Raskar and his two drivers Yogesh Kawade and Vikram Bhombe outside Battiwala’s Lullanagar residence on January 19. The trio are under arrest for murder and other charges under the Indian Penal Code and Maharashtra Police Act.
Battiwala had ostensibly objected to the parking of a white car outside his bungalow and told the driver, Bhombe, about it. Bhombe asked Battiwala to talk to his employer, Raskar, who was present and reportedly retorted that he was using a public road to park the car because he was an official of the Regional Transport Office. "After Battiwala asked Raskar to show his identity card, a dispute ensued,” a police inspector was quoted in the news report. Battiwala was allegedly attacked with a pry bar and stones. The purported assailants took to their heels after he fell.
Battiwala rushed to his residence and made a phone call to a nearby police chowkey. He then "walked up to a nearby hospital where he was admitted.” He was shifted to the intensive care unit after his condition deteriorated. He later succumbed to injuries, the police said. The Sassoon General Hospital has reportedly certified that the cause of Battiwala’s death was due to multiple injuries.
