"These poems and essays are random thoughts which came to mind at different times,” writes Meher Dinyar Dhondy, describing her book, Straight from the Heart, which was brought out by family and friends of the former teacher and writer to mark her 90th birthday. Apart from 40 general poems, there are a few on national themes and others on festivals. The dozen or so essays cover a wide range of disparate subjects, including ghostly encounters, hobbies, friendship, travels and evils of dowry.
