With the completion of the Dasturji Meherji K. D. Meherjirana Memorial House in Navsari (pictured), the 17 buildings under the WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation) Trust Funds (WZOTF) now accomodate "upward of 400 individuals in 113 flats,” wrote

chairman Dinshaw Tamboly, in an email to Parsiana. A jashan was performed on July 26, 2020 and the six flats in the building allotted to needy members of the community. The building has been constructed after demolishing an earlier one that was received by WZOTF as a bequest as per the wills of late Dastur Meherji K. D. Meherjirana and his wife Mehru, noted Tamboly.
The chairman noted that "the generous trustees of Zoroastrian Charity Funds of Hongkong, Canton and Macao (ZCFHCM) funded the entire cost of construction.” Reportedly the cost of construction was "upwards of one and a half crore rupees.” The Southeast Asia-based body has previously funded the purchase of a building near the Navsari Atash Behram for accommodation for mobeds, guest house facilities for families of priests in training, and Zoroastrian pilgrims (see "Navsari’s new Center,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, May 21-June 6, 2019), in addition to two other residential buildings in 2005 and 2014. "Donors support and invest in ideas, people and institutions in who they believe and have confidence. The WZO Trusts have earned the trust and goodwill of donors,” stated Tamboly.

All dwelling units under WZOTF’s housing project are given on leave and license basis for 11 months (and thereafter renewed every 33 months) to the "economically challenged, just about middle class, in need of housing,” No deposits are taken when allotting flats, the chairman clarified. Average outgoings per flat for the 17 buildings would be around Rs 850 to Rs.1,050 per month which includes license fees, maintenance and service charges,” Tamboly stated.
WZOTF has "received just a month ago, a house at Kanga Street, by way of bequest,” added the chairman.
