An article in the Sunday Standard by D. C. Shah titled "Parsi girl dancer breaks into movies” with a photograph of Shirin Vajifdar in a dance pose earned her the wrath of the community in 1943 (see "Dared to dance,” Parsiana, March 7-20, 2021). The excerpt below is carried from her unpublished autobiography "A Bird Must Fly.” For over 30 years Vajifdar had served as a senior dance critic for The Times of India and the Indian Express.
