"He has always been a loner… he does not pick up fights,” according to Shirin. The 40-year-old bachelor stays with his mother who "is as sure as I can be,” that the shooting incident was due to a property related dispute with her relatives. Shirin stated that she has lodged two previous first information reports with the local police about harassment from the relatives.
In response to Parsiana’s initial queries, Darius Ghandhi, resident of that city (The Jalejar Shapoorjee Ghandhi Dar-e-Meher in Allahabad was built by his great-grandfather Shapoorjee Ghandhi) said the assailants were on motorbikes and pumped two bullets in Mehernosh’s stomach... (another) one hit the shoulder, one the arm, one the palm...and one missed the target. He added that the perpetrators were "still at large but the police are confident that they will soon nab the culprits.” Ghandhi reported that Mehernosh was being treated at the privately run Phoenix Hospital.
