Entrepreneur and philanthropist Ronnie Screwvala (pictured) has teamed up with film producer Ashi Dua to co-produce the screen adaptation of Indian-American author Karan Bajaj’s 2010 novel Johnny Gone Down, reported the Mumbai Mirror (MM) on November 
23, 2017. The novel is about an Ivy League scholar who had a bright future at The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) ahead of him but things seem to take a dramatic turn during an innocent vacation. The duo has previously collaborated on the production of Love and Lust, a compilation of four short films by directors Karan Johar, Dibakar Banerjee, Zoya Akhtar and Anurag Kashyap.
Parsiana emailed Screwvala with follow up questions on how he zeroed in on the book and what was it about the book that appealed to him. These were responded to by his office. He "does not discuss any of his work in development with the media. Most of the write-ups till date are done by the various publications and are speculative in nature... At this stage there is no detail for us or share on this,” stated their email.
Earlier, the Mumbai Mirror of October 18 had reported that filmmaker Meghna Gulzar is to collaborate with Screwvala as producer on a "true life inspirational story, not a biopic” on Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. The project is slated to be kicked off at the end of 2018.
