“Eminent botanists”

Prof Ardeshir Damania agrees that Prof Rustamji Asana’s (pictured) name "deserves inclusion” in the Marathi book on 100 Indian botanists ("Eminent botanists,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, August 21, 2018).  He mentions that I am "mixing up the term ‘botanist’ with other disciplines of plant sciences, such as plant physiology, plant breeding, plant pathology, etc,” before stating that "Asana was a plant pathologist.” A botanist is generally defined as "An expert in or student of the scientific study of plants.”  Our people have made major contributions in many fields.
