Honoring Hormusji

The first and only statue of its founder Dr Hormusji Masina was unveiled in the Masina Hospital complex on June 4, 2024. Established by Dr Hormusji in 1902 and believed to be the first private hospital in the city, the unveiling coincided with the Hospital’s annual mah Dae jashan at the newly opened Executive Preventative Health Checkup Centre. "It was part of a collective decision to ensure our founder was adequately acknowledged by the management. This was supported and endorsed by the board of trustees,” Hospital chief executive officer (CEO) Dr Vispi Jokhi told Parsiana after the event. The marble bust was unveiled by trustees Dr Gustad Davar and Homi Katgara and subsequently garlanded by Jokhi and joint CEO Khushrow Major.
The jashan was performed by Ervads Parvez and Darayus Bajan. Those present included Hospital Trust advisor Noshir Dadrawala, Bombay Parsi Punchayet trustee Anahita Desai, Masina trustees, doctors, donors, well-wishers and Hospital staff.                                            F. J.
