Businessman, trustee and former Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat (APP) president for three terms and World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis founder-president Areez Khambatta was felicitated with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the annual awards function of APP on January 12, 2020 at the Sir Navroji Vakil Hall and Sanatorium. A commandant in the Home Guards for several years, a write-up from APP noted that Khambatta has been honored by the state government for being the highest taxpayer in Gujarat.
About 30 other community members were also felicitated by APP president Brig Jahangir Anklesaria (retd) for outstanding performance in examinations, competitions and areas of special involvement, noted the write-up. Three community members were acknowledged for achieving doctorates: Pervin Gandhi Variava for her research on "Information Content Impact of Dividend and Bonus Announcements on Shareholders’ Wealth Creation-The Indian Perspective;” visually impaired Sunny Karanjawala ("A Study on Awareness, Adaptability and Attitude among Farmers and Traders Concentrated in Gujarat with Special Reference to Commodity Derivative Market”); and Ervad Khushroo Ghadiali ("An Exploratory Case Study of Gujarat Council of Educational Research and Training in Developmental Perspective”). Rhoda Bharucha, honorary director and founder of Adiance Information Network was also felicitated. Special appreciation prizes were awarded to Khushnum Avari for having won the Ms Inspiration Award in Greece in November 2019 and erstwhile vice principal of Ahmedabad’s St Xavier’s High School Dhun Unwala. A "dedicated service to the community” award was presented to voluntary mobed and APP secretary and trustee for 30 years Ervad Navroze Kanga.
"Nearly 250 humdins” attended the function, notes APP’s write-up. The ensuing gahanbar was hosted by Ahmedabad resident Armaity Davar in memory of her parents Soonamai and Phiroze.

Four women, including Avari and Gandhi Variava, were felicitated by the Ushta-Te Foundation on December 5, 2019 jointly with Emerald Mercedes Motors. The event titled "She’s Mercedes” projected the quartet as "Stars of Mercedes,” noted a write-up from Foundation managing trustee Minni Patel. The quartet will be part of an "inspiration circle” to empower women and to bring out their hidden talent, Patel wrote. The others recognized are: president and core member of a chapter of a networking forum Business Network International and marathon runner Delnaz Medora; academician, principal and advisor to the Sports Academy Association of India Pervin Watchmaker. A Gujarati comedy followed. Patel acknowledged the support of Khushi and Kanaiyo Thakkar, directors of Emerald Mercedes as well as Zubin Mistry, their chief executive officer.
Meher Medora functions as the chairperson emeritus of the Foundation, while Justice Jamshed Pardiwala is a patron member. Patel’s current co trustees are Shirin Kanga, Dhun Anklesaria and Delnaz Jokhi.
