The age of Zoroastrian brides (as listed in this issue) ranged between 22 and 44 years, the arithmetic mean (the total number of individual ages divided by the total number of brides) being 27 years. The corresponding figures for the grooms were 23 and 57 years, averaging at 31 years.
Fourteen babies were born in the community in November as per the records from two south Bombay hospitals. In comparison 74 lives were lost. Heart disease was the major killer (22 deaths, 12 in the 80+ age category). Then came pneumonia/lung disease claiming 12 lives and old age/general debility (eight).......
