Subscribers’ comments

Subscribers offer their views on Parsiana’s strengths and weakness on the subscription renewal form returned to us. With their consent we publish their comments so that their thoughts may be known to a wider readership. Unless another name is affixed to the remarks, Parsiana assumes they are written by the subscriber whose name appears on the form.

Parsiana is a magazine which reports on a plethora of Parsi customs and the behavior and day-to-day activities of Zoroastrians across the world. The shortcomings are: The squabbles and unnecessary feuds of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet trustees regarding our priests and their concerns and helping of non-Zoroastrian children of Parsis married to non-Parsis.

Excellent coverage, color photos, glossy paper, superb articles and editing: all for just Rs 700 a year, which is peanuts! Congratulations and keep up the good show!

True reporting. Interesting. Covers all the states. Only sad to note we never seem to agree. Always two parties. Time we thought of ways to increase our community. Do away with laws that are thousands of years old as we did when we first landed in Sanjan. Being short of women, we did accept them from among the locals then to help us!

A good medium to keep the community abreast of the latest happenings. Can’t think of any shortcomings.

Parsiana’s strengths: In-depth news honestly reported in a simple, straightforward manner. Keep going — up! Shortcomings: Not taking the Bombay Parsi Punchayet and other official organizations to task when they are in the wrong or just meddlesome numbskulls.

Parsiana covers gatherings of Parsi Zoroastrians all around the world. It is a well made and published magazine. Love the yearly calendar. There are no shortcomings.

Your strengths: Good awareness of what is happening in our community. Shortcomings: No articles on religious topics by religious scholars like the Vada Dasturs, etc.
JEROO XERXES IRANI

Information from everywhere for all Zoroastrians. We request you not to highlight mixed marriages and cases against the community. It brings us down.

Coverage of the global Zoroastrian community has increased considerably.
KERSI P. MAHUDAWALA

Informative. Keeps one in touch with the community’s affairs.
KAIZIN H. MALEGAMWALA

Parsiana’s strengths: The global news you give. If possible please publish names and telephone numbers of fire temples, dharamshalas, people who can be contacted for help — in India and abroad. Shortcomings: Don’t take sides. Black is black and grey is grey. Guide your readers. So far, so good. Well done. You can do better.

Parsiana gives the correct picture of the current happenings across the world in the Zoroastrian community.

Strength: Rational outlook. Shortcomings: Do have a column on Parsi humor: Jokes about Parsis, for Parsis, by Parsis.
ASPI R. MISTRY

Parsiana’s strengths: Wide coverage of Parsi/Zoroastrian issues and events. Shortcomings: Nothing on the lighter side (poems, short stories, humor, cartoons).
