Since the arrival of the bicycle in India, the Parsi community has actively undertaken cycling as a form of transport and long-distance adventure. But mostly, the stories belong to men. I am interested to discover experiences of women who have cycled between 1940 and 1980s in any part of India for any purpose.
I am currently an assistant professor of South Asian History at Shiv Nadar University, Delhi-NCR (National Capital Region), and working on a project on women and cycling in post-independent India. If you have cycled during this period or know any female relative/friend/colleague who has done so, please contact me by email.
It would be very helpful if you could respond to a research questionnaire.
