A stormy FPZAI meet?

A stormy FPZAI meet?

The Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India (FPZAI) executive council and general body meeting to be held tomorrow and day after (21 and 22 January), will once again witness an effort to shift the office of the all-India body out of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP). Item 14 in the agenda states: "To shift the registered office from BPP as resolution passed in West Zone-B meeting in Valsad on July 2021.”
The late  FPZAI and BPP chairman Yazdi Desai had attempted three and a half years prior to shift the Federation to the same building that houses the traditionalist World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarathustis (WAPIZ) of which he was the chairman. He gave up the move after stiff opposition from his BPP colleagues  and others on the Federation. At present the BPP bears the FPZAI office expenses. It is rumoured some defunct anjuman properties have been sold or are on the verge of being sold and so funding for the FPZAI, should it shift office, will not be a problem.
Elections for office bearers posts are to be held. A tussle is expected over the appointment of two honorary secretaries. One post was/is being held  by former BPP trustee Noshir Dadrawala while that of joint honorary secretary is held by WAPIZ trustee, Farrokh Rustomji.?Desai’s wife, Anahita, a BPP trustee and WAPIZ chief executive officer, and a majority of the FPZAI delegates from Gujarat who are either WAPIZ members or sympathisers, will want their candidate appointed to the crucial posts as well as a shift of office.
Traditionally, a BPP trustee holds the post of honorary secretary. Anahita would therefore be a candidate while Rustomji could contest for the second post.
