Doongerwadi: to fly or not?

The full board of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) met officials of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on October 9, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. to discuss the no-fly zone over Doongerwadi, according to BPP trustee Noshir Dadrawala. "Dastur (Dr) Firoze Kotwal, Dastur Khurshed Dastoor and Ervad Parvez Bajan  as also Squadron Leader Minoo Wadia were present at the meeting on  the BPP’s  request. Akshay Varang from the Collector’s office was also present. "The meeting was cordial. The trustees have requested for more time but in the interim they have requested AAI to maintain status quo as any change would deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the community,” stated Dadrawala. According to newspaper reports the government wants to limit the no fly zone from one kilometre to 500 meters for emergency operations.          Bombay’s Doongerwadi (circa 1973) ...
