Who are the greatest purveyors of fake news? The answer is people who don’t bother to verify information before passing it on. Often one receives messages on WhatsApp distorting facts, spreading rumors, maligning individuals and so on. If one inquires from the party who forwarded the information if they know the contents to be true, the reply is they have no idea. They merely functioned as post persons. That they may be disseminating lies is of little consequence.
