In my column ("Bawas don’t seem to die,” Bawa Musings, Parsiana, December 7, 2016) on longevity in the community, it was mentioned that elders are "languishing in the chronic ward of the J. J. Hospital with painful bedsores, as water mattresses are too expensive.”
Social worker and former Bombay Parsi Punchayet trustee Arnavaz Mistry, who has dedicated her services to the Parsi Ward at J. J. Hospital (pictured), informed us that there are an adequate number of air mattresses to prevent bedsores.
What I intended to convey was the general situation, not specifically related to the Parsi Ward at the J. J. Hospital. My apologies for any unwitting distress caused.
