Mingling with seniors

Watching the 100 school children from Sett R. J. J. High School in Navsari and the senior citizens of the WZO (World Zoroastrian Organisation) Trust Funds’ Senior Citizens Centres in that city on October 1, 2017, was "a heartening experience for us all,” writes Dinshaw Tamboly chairman of the Trust. Celebrated as International Day of Older Persons worldwide, on that date the school children visited the Centre and "had interactive and meaningful conversations with many of our residents,” he notes. The elders were then escorted to the School where the seniors were felicitated; they sang devotional songs together with the children and got an opportunity to share experiences with the students. The International Day has been celebrated since October 1, 1991 pursuant to a December 14, 1990 decision of the United Nations General Assembly, to recognize the contributions of older persons and to examine issues that affect their lives.
