Memorializing Mogal

 The "Shaurya Chakra (Posthumous) Awardee Lt Cdr Firdaus Darabshah Mogal Memorial Lecture Series," will commemorate the 36-year-old naval officer (pictured) who perished at sea while saving the lives of six of his teammates (see "Submariner’s supreme sacrifice," Parsiana, September 21, 2010). A write-up received by Parsiana from Hoshi Bajina, president of Mahuva Parsi Anjuman notes that the series will be organized by the 1898-established Sayaji Vaibhav Library in Navsari. The office bearers of the Library believe that it "will inspire the youth and motivate them to serve India." Under this project they "will invite retired or active in service officers of the Indian armed forces and they will address students of schools and colleges," states the write-up. Mogal was a denizen of Mahuva, 28 km from Navsari. The library management announced the aims and objects of the lecture series at a public function on August 6, 2017 at Navsari’s J. N.
